Hi everyone,
I have a large sculpture made from plaster that looks similar to an altar. It resembles a square in shape, but has an arched roof and cut out section under the roof.
It measures approx 160mm x 230mm x 100m.
I only ever use silicone for my moulds but working out the amount I requires based on size it would probably be at least 5kg and just costs too much. Also the shape might be difficult to release normal silicone from.
Could someone advise how much latex I would require or how to work it out based on size. Would 2kg be enough?
Secondly, if I wasn't to use a mother mould, what else could I use to keep the straight sections as even as possible. Shod I fill something into the inside, like kinetic sand or would that be too heavy? I've used styrofoam in the past with reasonable success but wondered if there was better ways of doing it? I really need to keep some sections as straight and flat as possible so the sculpture stands up.
Any help would be appreciated.
