Quite a few members asked me to do a step-by-step on how I made feathers for the Elite Blood Warrior Conversion I did. After reading the requests in the forum as well as emails and Pm's here is how I did the feathers.

The feathers I ordered online but can be purchased at and through most major arts and craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

The first photo shows you the beginning feather right out of the bag and the Blood Warrior feather cut from it's tip.

Using a small pair of sharp scissors I cut the above figure and got out the red thread as seen below.

Making a loop in the cut piece of thread I place the feather inside the loop and tighten.

After tightening the loop of thread around the shaft of the feather I apply a small amount of white glue to the tied area. When it begins to set I start wrapping the thread around the shaft of the feather while I hold slight pressure on the tied knot.

I then apply a thin amount of white glue as I wrap the feather around its shaft.

Above is the feather tied.

Above is the feather with the thread wrapped to the end and after the glue has set just cot it off close.

Using Windsor / Newton black paint the tips to represent an immature Eagle feather.

Above are the 3 stages of making a feather from a real small feather.

I hope this is of some help to those who ask me about them.

Thanks, Mario! Of course it looks so simple now that you show how; I have been trying to pull this off and I guess I missed steps that you made. Great, thanks.

I've always been a little leary about using real feathers for miniatures. Your method seems to work well here. How many small feathers are you able to get from one large one? Great little sbs, thanks. ~Gary
