No for me. I like to know the new stuff and the possible services that i can contract. PF is great place cause there are painters, sculpters, and manufacturers actively participating, and the opinions and troubles are hearded and taken into account for all the parts.
Is good for the manufacturer know what likes and dislikes to the community.
Is good for the painters know the problems of the manufacturers.
Is good for the sculpter know till what point the painters give them licence to sacriface historic details for artistic details.

I think that manufacturers should pay a small fee as suggested for having a banner, label, to be flashed on this forum as is done for other sites such as Armorama, etc. That is fair to help in the upkeep of this forum.
As to the present FIGURE NEWS announcing new products, I've always avoided criticising on any new products being introduced there as an adverse comment can drastically affect sales. This is a small hobby after all.

If this is the case ; then any banner should also incur a cost IE see me at such and such , if yo u want help with the running of the site become a paid member there is only a small charge ,
the last i paid was £9.00

You know I am a plain speaker and I am not going to be diplomatic here.

I do not understand any of this....I mean no harm to anyone's sensitivities, however.....

This forum actively seeks out news of what's on offer
THATS WHAT WE WANT.

If someone can't post their new figure releases or services as they come on stream, that makes us elitist, and dumb.

On this forum, are we are that special that we have to make ten posts or something before we declare we have a commercial product? Or maybe face an interview to deem our suitability to be a member of a private members club.

Some of you sound like the old nightclub doorman who says "not in them shoes mate".

It makes not a jot of difference to anyone and loads of people have posted their new 'fantasy' creation as their introduction to us.

How can we even think to suggest a manufacturer should pay to be here as a supporter when so few of US actually are.

I have been a member of this forum for a while, and am releasing a figure at some point this year.

If I wasn't a member of the Forum I would still want you to know all about it, why wouldn't I ?

Come on guys and please lets just be consistent.

Happy modelling

Paul.

My sentiments entirely Paul.

You could always ask existing and potential traders to join as a paid member . Really not that much to ask , and non paid members who place banners for other forums to do likewise as a common courtesy as they are generally flogging stuff also . IE see me at such and such

Greetings all,

I think this thread has run its course, The closing date shown was a typographical error.

First I would like to point out that this post was, As Steve so aptly pointed out, Me flying a kite to seek the forums views. The question came about during a conversation in relation to NEW PERSONS joining the site for the sole purpose of trading their services on their first post and not being seen or heard of again until they wanted to trade again.

Bearing in mind we have to treat all on a level playing field, and knowing the forums aversion to rules, regulations and over moderating. The question was posed.

I would like to thank all members that voted, I have to say I was not surprised in the identities of those that posted replies or their point of view. In relation to those that sent PM’s If you don’t wish to comment on the open forum then don’t comment at all.

At the time of posting this reply the thread had received
677 Views
6 Votes For 1 Vote has been deducted as it was me testing system and couldn’t retract.
18 Against
0 Don’t Knows.

So a resounding win for the status quo.

It is not my intention to reply to the posts made as I believe that all that could be said has been said and some very interesting points made and raised.

It is apparent that we all have the overall well being of the forum at heart, maybe those members who are not supporters should consider this option, with all the figure/modelling mags going to the wall PF premium membership is less than a magazine subscription.

Finally I would like to thank all the Manufacturers, Traders, Service Providers that give their all to this forum, As for those that think they can join, hawk, and disappear let us all back the
moderators in whatever action they deem necessary to stop this practice.

PS. Paul. I have sent you some Blood Pressure tablets to help calm you down.

"In relation to those that sent PM’s If you don’t wish to comment on the open forum then don’t comment at all."

As someone who sent you a PM, and who considered the lack of response to be quite rude,.....go and take a long leap off a short pier.

And in ten years on this forum I've never seen a more self indulgent waste of time and space as this so called poll.

Mick.....
Love you man ;)

Given that multiple discussions on PF ended in unnecessary confrontations and that PM corresponcence was mostly agreed and suggested as a amicable way forward to avoid forum negativity and conflict, I find your statement regarding PM quite surprising, Mick.

I agree with you entirely but as the PM's were not directed at me, and were finger pointing at others, I stand buy my position. I am not in the habit of firing other
peoples bullets.

At least we can only hope is that the "Controversial +13 " warning was as effective as intended and that easily influenced modelling youths didn't see this poll and realise that if they continued long enough in the hobby they'd become boring and tiresome enough to wonder if they should create a shitty poll.

@ Paul (peedee): Fair points very well made pal.

@ Mark S: If you think Mick's poll (or any other for that matter) is a self-indulgent waste of time, that's fair enough. Taking part isn't compulsory though, and if you feel that strongly you could just ignore the thread.

@ Magnifier: Of all the online forums I've ever been on, I've never yet been on one where from time to time you don't get handbags or clashing egos. It's the nature of the beast. Compared to some, this place is a haven of tranquility full of unicorns, fluffy bunnies and cute babies chuckling merrily as they count their toes ..... 99% percent of the time anyway!
