Hi Keith - I think you are right, I do need to go back and look at the face and beard things are too subtle. Thanks mate for the input. I don't know why I struggle with the small faces that bust of mine just seemed to fall into place but I can't replicate it on a smaller scale?

Hi Colin - Thanks mate, I hope I can keep this roll going, I currently working on Commissary Dalton, plan to start another bust as I really enjoyed painting the 80th Staffs bust. I've ordered another driftwood base from chippy in readyness. I am also waiting for two figures to arrive from the States so I have a couple of ideas for another couple of conversions, then who knows. Glad I could inspire you with a couple of idea's mate.

Hi Steve - Thanks mate, I am forcing myself to do something nearly every day and it's paying off, I completed 2 major conversions and a bust all in the cabinet with another conversion W.I.P. and all this has happened in about the last five weeks.

Hi Steve - Thanks mate, I have enjoyed this one and it does make a difference if you are motivated by your figures and subject, I suppose the same love you have for knights and the bust of your Dad.

Thanks again all.
cheers
Richie

Great job on this Ritchie. The whole 'package' works really well. XenForoThumbsup_zpsb717ef9c.gif
Like Keith I do think it'd pay dividends to do a bit more on the face.
Going in wet on dry with tiny touches of oils should do the trick. If you don't like the result or have gone a bit too dark on the shadows then a couple of clean brushes and turps will take you back to the starting line. Basically treat it as a wee bust.
Cheers

Hi Del,
Cheers mate, I think I will post regular pictures of the face for the Commissary Dalton figure, it might pay more dividends so you lads can help keep me on track with pointers.
cheers

Hi Richie,
I think that the main effect of painting on a larger scale piece is that subtle changes in tone look really good and shadowed areas are not quite so heavy/dark. Looking at some of the great painted figures on this site; it would seem that the smaller pieces have a greater and harsher change of flesh tones. Though still blended together.
Follow Dels good advice and if it does not work ease your changes off and have another go, but I think that as the figure is at the moment you will easily add depth to the face and not need such treatment. JOB DONE!
Looking forward to your next pics.

All the very best,
Keith
