The first "spacewalk"...

Again, the Soviets are ahead in space! The first person to take a space “walk” is a Russian: Lieutenant Colonel Aleksey Arkhipovich Leonov....:

On March 18, 1965, Leonov climbed out of his capsule of the spaceship "Woshod 2" and, held by a safety cable, floated in space for about 20 minutes...

…while the commander, Colonel Pavel Belyayev maneuvers the capsule…:

The US-Americans did not succeed in their “spacewalk” until June 3, 1965 (Edward H. White).

The two cosmonauts are given a triumphant welcome in Moscow, and Leonow was awarded with the golden star and the title "Hero of the Soviet Union"...

(When I saw the picture above for the first time, I spontaneously thought: "That's Yuri Gagarin!"
But no, that's Belyayev - he just looked a lot like Gagarin...)

On the 50th anniversary of the first "space walk" Leonov is honored with a commemorative coin...:

Two-time Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Lenonov...

... he received the first of these awards as a fighter pilot during the Great Patriotic War...

... died on October 11, 2019 in Moscow...:

Strange it's was all about Gagarin at this time , personally not heard about this man ....very brave to say the least ....go boldly when no man had ever gone

There is that rumour that Gagarin wasn't really the first man in space. That it was another guy who crashed and burned on landing. Easily covered upgiven the remote locations involved..
