The acquisitions Manager of MadameTussaud's of London was following this thread very excited until he noticed with great disappointment that this piece is just in a 1/6scale.. :ROFLMAO: poor devil..

Tarracus - that is both hilarious and a wonderful compliment.....thank you.

Better pictures with a proper camera. You will see that I am going very dark on the uniform for accuracy. The base is 50:50 V dark prussian blue and black. I have started to add inks to his face. Hair is only undercoated.

Looking great to date. (Hey, I'm a poet and didn't know it. But my nose shows it... It's a Longfellow)
Anyhoo
Don't leave out any steps on the gold embroidery.... I think your blue is spot on. Still in awe of the paintjob on the face... Perfect example of the "Fraserian" school.

Colin

Embroidery - base is yellow ochre.
Wash with raw umber and do blue ink (50:50)
Highlight with Mdm yellow
Wash with raw umber ink (again)
Highlight sparingly with Naples yellow.

That's it so far.

He will look better when I get the shine off his face and some more contrast into his hair.

Cheers
Colin

Colin you're doing great so far! Not only you managed to sculpt this very very nicely,
but also you're painting it equally well! I look forward to the finished work!

Regards
Pedro

Colin is great seeing this one coming up mate, I love the flesh tones - very realistic.
Following.

Cheers,
Pedro.

Awesome! 'Nuff said;)
How did you matte the face? Looks so much better like that... Before, he looked like me trying to walk up a flight of stairs... or do long division.

Carry on, my wayward son

Just a shot or two of Humbrol spray varnish Coiln. I pulled the cellophane wrap I use for holding him....up to the the top of the collar to mask the uniform. I don't know why he was shining as I was painting Vallejos for the most part on his face. Must have blundered the undercoat in some way.

Could it be the ink washes?
