The 75mm Botzaris is true to an existing romantic painting(French I think but can't recall the name) but other than that it is full of inaccuracies.The item of clothing depicted,at least from the waist down, is absolutely alien.It might be that the artist was not familiar with Greek costume and did not know exactly what he was painting or he devised a costume of his own that would look sufficiently outlandish and Balkan for his contemporaries.Great sculpt indeed but otherwise a figure for someone interested in the history of art more than military history.

Just for future consideration:Odysseus Androutsos(one of the bravest and most ferocious warlords of the Independence),Athanasios Diakos(a most idealistic and tragic figure) and Niketaras(one of the most pure and honest of the struggle).All available by Greek heroes,bearing extreme resemblance to surviving portraits of the aforementioned personalities.
