On the home stretch of painting Soldiers' Artillery of Train, officer, 1704 (SP-7B). My reference library is a little light in this era, so I have a few queries about the figure that I hope one of you maybe able to answer.

The sculpting around the the top the cuirass is rather soft. The box art show that it could be a blue collar with gold braid and brass buttons. This doesn't make sense as the jacket is red. Could this be the upper edge, possibly the collar of the cuirass?

The gloves are referred to as 'light leather'. Should I interpret this as white or a light tan/buff colour?

Cheers

Paul, Why would it not make sense for a red jacket/coat to have a blue collar? Typically coat of this period did not have collars, although the sculptor could have added one. The only other things it could be are a neck stock or the lining for the cuirass, if it has one.

As for the gauntlets/gloves, I'd probably do them a light buff or off-white. ~Gary

Hey Gary:

Thanks for the response. I should have given more detail. Above the ? area is a collar (red) and above that a white neckerchief. Over the entire ensemble is a blue coat. I found a plate of a senior officer and it looks like it is a reinforced strip with brass studs on the top edge of the cuirass.
Cheers
