Colin, sorry for the interlude!

If you're looking for something REALLY outstanding, a head-turner and a great conversation piece as well, you should consider Roustan the Mameluk, the Emperor's bodyguard.

Le Cimier figure was good but in that big scale, with YOUR treatment, it should be outstanding!.

Good luck!

Colin-

Thanks very much for posting the sbs on this. Excellent work. Very inspiring...
Love those Napoleonic uniforms :)

High highlights added to the lace. I'll proobably go back when the lace is dry and shade it a bit. The alce bordering the collar and front is a little drastic. But i like the oak leaves all right. The face is still in progress and the hair is only undercoated. Maybe this will be ready in time for Chicago. Colin

(y) Colin, that's looking good so far!

C'mon, Quang, just admit that your Dutch-speaking other and better half translates while you look at the pictures in "Humo". ;)

Know what, I'll ask her myself when I see you guys in Antwerp!

Johan,

We'd better stop hijacking this (great) thread.

Colin,

The oak leaves look fabulous! (y) (y) (y)

If you don't mind, I think that the fur on the coat is not up to the quality of the braids and would need some detailing to give it a softer, more supple feel. IMO, it would be worth the extra work.

Otherwise,

Quang

Colin-

Lovely work so far. Just blown away by the gold oak leafs.

This is... what... 120 mm 200 mm?

Keith

Thanks guys.

Keith - he's a 1/6 figure built on a DML action figure armature so the detail should be there.

Quang - talk about whatever you want - I found your links a hoot - this is going to be a long project and I'll only update it intermittently, otherwise it will run to 20 pages. I do find that the workbench threads have the effect of sustaining my motivation. BTW - The fur is only undercoated. The face and hat are ~75% done, the front of the general's jacket is mostly finished. Everything else is just undercoated so there is a lot yet to be done. Onward and upward! Colin

Colin,

Sorry to be late on this great looking figure! I think this is some of the best lace work that I have seen! (y) Looking forward to more pictures.

Joe

Not much progress for the last 2 weeks. I have painted his face in colder tones, as befits the Russian campaign.

Beautiful work Colin. I especially like the treatment you've given the medals and oak leaf details.
