Here's my latest project. It's Marshal Ney, Napoleon's "Bravest of the brave" by Alexandros Models.
This is an excellent sculpt which the detail screams for painting! All done in acrylics with printers ink for the metals. Comments are welcome, and thanks for looking.

Many thanks to all for your kind words! It is a fantastic sculpt with wonderful detail. There are several images of Ney showing the sash that helped me decide how to go about it. Sometimes you can overboard on things like that, so you have stop when it looks right. It's basically lighte tones over a mid shadow to start. Then higher lights as needed. If you like the Napoleonics this is a must have. Marc, please paint yours!

That's some very good painting going on there. Very expressive face: he looks distracted. Could he be thinking about his trial?

The first thought one gets is: this is a canvas oil painting hanging in a museum. Very convincing rendering of the gold braid and the sash. From what I see it would say you paint in acrylics?(y)

Hmmm............. heavily into Classical Antiquity but the bust reminds me that White Models 90 mm Lasalle on horseback by Borin is waiting in my stash. Inspiring work.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Yes it's acrylics with printers ink for the metals. My formula for the gold lace is a base coat of gold+raw sienna. If there is any sculpted detail I will apply a oil wash of burnt umber. When dry I use a mix of gold+yellow 1to1 ratio + very small touch of scarlet + white. Then if needed add more white for the high highlights. You have to be the judge as you're mixing and how it looks to you. You might have add more yellow if the mix looks too white. It's up to you. I hope this has helped. Thanks again!
