Another one of our new figures is Marshal Victor - Claude Victor-Perrin, First Duc de Belluno was a French soldier and military commander during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He was made a Marshal of France in 1807 by Napoleon. Born in Lamarche in Vosges, he entered the army as a soldier in 1781.
He holds the baton, a blue cylinder with stars - a symbol of being a marshal. It traditionally has the Latin inscription: Terror belli, decus pacis, which means “Terror in war, ornament in peace”.
