Finally finished - 5 horses and 12 figures. The horses are converted Historex horse, apart from the fallen drummer all of the figures are scratch built:

This last photo shows the 'flying' horse with all 4 hooves off the ground.

Hi Peter,

An excellent diorama piece with wonderfully animated figures.

Perhaps you could consider dark staining and varnishing the wood base as it seems to detract from the scene.

Rgds Victor.

Victor - nice idea - I have some woodstain inthe workshop so I'll have a look at it. It depends on whether I can remove the varnish without damaging the figures - I may not be that brave!

Hi Peter

Awesome result , so much clever modelling and action there , like the interaction between the pieces
...the flying horse works so well

Thanks for the excellent VBench https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/ecw-cavalry-charge.615551/, a pleasure to follow

Absolutely epic creation, it's been an informative and interesting thread to follow, the end result being spectacular.

Cheers Simon

Simon - thanks for the compliment

Nap - I have entered the competition. The next projects will be a home sculpted bust - see photo then a 1/16 Universal carrier my wife got me for my birthday. Perhpas after those back to ECW - but definitely not 12 figures!!!!

Indeed, this is an epic scene! Great use of that Castle Miniatures set with excellent conversion and sculpting of the additional figures. This is full of action and really conveys the moment of impact very well. It's been a pleasure to follow along with this and all your work has definitely been worth it, well done!

Thanks Nigel.

The irony is that in the end I only use one and a half of the Castle figures - the drummer and a torso for the ensign bearer. When I embarked on the project it was not my intention to scratch build any of the foot figures but the Castle figures are slightly large for 54mm and do not really fit with the size of the History horses

Peter.

Hi Peter

Thanks for supporting the competitions

As for the bust....fair play on the sculpt , looks good ....do share the updates on both sculpting and painting in a V bench

Enjoy whatever you have on the bench
