Some people say that but they're wrong  54mm neatly equalling 1/32 scale is a good indicator of this and a 54mm eye level working out to a figure height of ~57mm is more proof.

I like to think of it this way - we measure real people to crown of head so why not miniatures? It's the only way to accurately get a figure's height anyway, I for one don't have a clue what my eye level is but I do know how tall I am :) Regardless, ratios are just a better system in every way.

Pegaso are often referred to as 'large 54mm' but from my understanding, this is because they measure from the feet to the eyes. [/quote]
They're usually well above 60mm now but there is a wide range of heights among their range and if you compare accessories they're clearly scaled to the figure's height, in the ones I've measured at least. Their early figs are generally shorter and there was a general trend in commercial sculpts to a larger size over the years, although I don't think anyone else has gone as far as Masterclass!

Guys, I'm continuing to put together references for weapons I'd like to scratchbuild for future projects/ commercial production. Martini-Henry Mark l rifle
Martini-Henry Mark l Cavalry Carbine
Hello Gary !
at which stage is your project about this rifle my friend ?Any chance on both scales :1/32 and 1/24 ?

Georges, I could not believe how much time has gone by since my first posting regarding the Martini-Henry. With the other projects I have recently completed and those presently being worked on now I have not yet begun to build a MH in any scale...yet. I have a few muskets I want to do, maybe I can begin work on one shortly. Sorry for the long wait.~Gary

Einion - Glad you posted the scale conversion chart again! I kept meaning to copy and keep it, but didn't on any of the other occasions you posted it to various threads. Thanks!!

Gary - Somewhere else somebody suggested a set of SBS's saved on the forum as a set of ongoing references, which I think is a superb idea. As part of that initiative, I'd really appreciate a rifle How To and the M-H is as good a subject as any for moi.

I've now done three rifle conversions which were adequate, but not remarkable. I'm a fan of the excellent and accurate weapons done by the sculptor for New Model Army [a Russian, I think, but I don't know his name] and, of course, the British [or is he Welsh?] sculptor for David Parkins.

So - it's about time to learn what I'm doing wrong!!! :)

All the best,
Dan

Guys, I'll consider doing an sbs on making rifles/muskets once I get a few things done. Weapons are such an important part of the figure, but seem to be done as an afterthought at least some of the time if not more often.~Gary
