The minute I saw this beast over on coolminiornot.com I just had to have one! This piece is from the German based Masquerade Miniatures. They have some real talent over there, and this piece speaks volumes! Cast in sturdy gray resin, this 13 piece kit is details from top to bottom! Every scale, tooth, dimple, tear, divot, crease, spine, wart, whatever, is rendered in crisp detail. There are a couple small casting issues with my kit, I will explain as we look through the pictures. Honestly, if I didn’t have several pieces I already had to work on….this guy would be on the bench!!!! Enjoy.

The minute I saw this beast over on coolminiornot.com I just had to have one! This piece is from the German based Masquerade Miniatures. They have some real talent over there, and this piece speaks volumes! Cast in sturdy gray resin, this 13 piece kit is details from top to bottom! Above is the box the kit arrived in. Great box art, sturdy DVD type plastic contianer lined with foam. My kit was sealed in several bags and nestled snugly in his box.
The kit is 13 pieces in all. This image below shows the main parts of the dragon with a small plinth attaching piece. The two main pieces of the display plinth are not included in this pic.
The neck is a study in scaly perfection, each one is individually sculpted with care. They stick out just enough for great texture and each has scribed effects for dimention. I have a couple small casting holes in mine, and the neck fril does not dry fit due to the complexity of these parts. It wants to fit, but because of the intersection of so many intricate parts, it will need some clean up before I can coax it down into position. Also pictured below are the two horns that attach to the back of the head. Great curving horns with super texture that add to the mean swept back look of the beast.
Below are some shots of the top part of the head, the lower jaw and the two dry fitted together. My kit has an excellent dry fit of these two parts. You have to note the detail of the upper palette and the wrinkled details added there. Also the mean swept back eyes, the immense amount of texture detail on the skin and the teeth all perfectly sculpted. I also include a shot of the head with the horns in position. The dry fit of the horns needs work as there are some small casting pugs to clean up before they fit perfectly. My casting has two small casting-flaw holes on the top at the horn openings, and there are also two casting holes at the back end of each nostril. Should clean up easily enough with some putty, but with a piece of this immense detail, you have to be vigilant!
Below is a shot of the tongue, and of it nestled in the mouth. Also pictured is the piece that goes on the bottom of the jaw. It actually gets sandwiched by the two ear frills, but that will have to be in the next post!
