Well the victor of the duell nears completion. At this point I am trying to create stripes on his hakama that look sufficiently faded to support a rather-I have seen better days-look.I want him to look dirty and unkempt and down on his luck having resorted to executing "hits" for some obscure personality. After that I will work on the dead man at his feet(he will be dressed quite formaly making the whole vignette the murder of a high ranking official).I'm a rather slow worker but I have a lot of fun doing it.

As somebody who is partial to Asian historical subjects/periods, this sounds like it's going to be a really, really cool vignette when your finished. The backstory is perfect. Hopefully you'll be share some pics with us soon!

I have long since confessed my humiliating ignorance of modern technology.Hopefully when it's finished and with the help of the wife on the pictures department I'll be able to post something.

It turns out, the last pics I posted of this guy were exactly a month ago! Fortunately I've been able to dive back in again and be productive (and start this guy too)...
The figure itself is now finished! Just the base is left - the next post for this project will be in the completed section (yay)!

As expected, this turned out looking truly awesome.I like it very much, colourfull and exotic but still very down to earth, dangerous and expressive. It gives out a feeling similar to what a poisonous amazonian insect would give:bright and full of colour and yet lethal...look but don't touch.Awesome work Phil.

Nice work! Very neat and suitably bright.

Just wondering, were the feathers painted after some example? They look nice.

Cheers,
Adrian

Thanks for kind words Adrian! As far as the feathers go, I'd love to tell you that I did all kinds of historical research into traditional Mayan headdresses and whatnot, but unfortunately no... I more or less just stole from the box art with some subtle color changes and variations:ROFLMAO:

Thanks so much Oda!

It makes me happy to hear you guys talk about the brightness/colorfulness. Most of the body tones and actual clothing are pretty desaturated, and then there is this crazy, colorful headress - it could very easily look at odds with the rest of the figure! I tried to make sure all those bright colors didn't turn out either garish or just plain cartoon-y looking!
