Seems to me that these are something of a quiet corner of our site. Plenty of good stuff in there but with very few comments or "likes" on anything. Which tells me that relatively few members bother much with it.

I've just had a quick shufty around there for the first time in ages, randomly clicking on a few albums. But normally I'm as guilty as anyone for ignoring it. Anyone else?

I look occasionally but I do keep forgetting it's there. Also as there is no real way of knowing what's in each folder it's a bit hit and miss finding stuff you like.
I tend to seek out people whose work I know and probably miss a lot of gems.

I'm relatively new here, I've never visited nor have I posted in the galleries. Like Brad says, the Completed Works subforum is where I go......

Yeah, in my case, I have the main forum URL bookmarked: https://www.planetfigure.com/forum/
I navigate there, log in, and then that page is presented. From there, I click What's New? to see what has been posted since I last logged in. I never think about clicking the Galleries tab.

I think I have one set up, too, but I don't think I've uploaded anything to it. For one thing, I find it a little cumbersome to use. It looks like they're sorted by most recently updated by default, but there doesn't appear to be any other kind of sort. I guess the general forum search function can return a gallery. Otherwise, you page through what is currently 69 pages of selections. Or if you have a specific member in mind, you can go to his profile and click the Albums tab. Just not as convenient as using the What's New? functionality, in my opinion.

Prost!

Hi Steve

A good question to highlight by you , personally I don’t have a gallery and probably have only looked in them a couple of times , I certainly don’t see many updates in galleries

For me and I think many which in my opinion is to try to do a V Bench and then show finished pics in the Completed forum with links between them both

Members are of course welcome to use the galleries

Just my thoughts

This discussion made me go look at the album I have. It's been a while since I added any photos, and some of the more recent ones are poorly done. I should spend some time and update it.

Prost!

I’ve never used Albums and perhaps looked there once.

I do like the concept of having all my work together in a file, but I’ve always used the vBench list for that. I find it useful to see all my work(or someone else’s) together, with timestamp and all.

Introduction of the Completed forum complicated this listing though. For me the completed work should be at the end of a vBench thread, not in a separate section.
Or, alternatively, a member doesn’t have a vBench list, but a list that is linked to his threads in the Completed section. Hope the admins consider this.

Or….all completed work is linked to a member’s Album….making sense of that section.

I agree the galleries are too cumbersome for the impatient among us (which includes me) to bother with.

I have always thought it strange that new completed posts are not highlighted on the home page while vbench posts are. Perhaps that is because “completed” was a later addition to the site (subject to check).

I would think that finished figures are of more interest to member and visitor viewers than current home page categories like reviews.

The result is that often vbench posts get more views than finished pieces. I tend to post my completed work at the end of the related vbench thread and not bother posting in completed for this reason and also because completed threads do not show in my vbench, which I refer to often as a chronological history of my work. .

Hi Rob

It’s the same thing , V= Virtual ,some call it VBench others WIP ( Work in Progress ) , SBS ( Step by Step ) .....just the same

Kevin, do I need a V-bench then, or should I just keep posting WIP threads?

I recently requested that my gallery be completely deleted after finding that some of my pieces had been precisely copied without acknowledgement.
I simply don't understand how anyone in this hobby can get any satisfaction at all by simply copying someone else's ideas...surely the most satisfying part of the hobby is coming up with your own original ideas....??

Mark, it is said that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ......" what you rarely hear is the second part of Wilde's quote.;)
Saying that, having failed to come up with a concept for four of Pegasos celts I'm unashamedly copying more or less another modellers diorama. When finally shown I will acknowledge the guy.

No search function in the Gallery. When I use the Search box for a particular manufacturer and kit name for example of a fig that I want to build, I get hits on the WIP which usually gives me what i need. Although It's nice to see what others build in the Gallery, but without kit identification, it's laborious to find out.

Hi everyone

I asked the Admin whizz ref galleries ...

We are limited in what we can do with what the software offers. There aren't really any options to customize galleries or offer a new type of search.

Thank you to Pawel for response

So use a gallery if you wish alongside Completed Forum ...... just enjoy what you paint

And yet you've left the link to your Facebook page??

Hi folks

Adrian mentioned about having a link

You can already see albums through user profiles. The links to all user's albums are there.
