Hi PF members

I'm new to PF and this is my first post. I'm still trying to work out how to do this! I'm writing this while waiting for the primer on my 90mm Andrea French Imperial Grenadier figure to dry. I've attached a couple of photos (310mm Naked Army Royal Australian Regiment Vietnam figure & 120mm William Wallace bust). Although I've been figure modelling for nearly 20 years, I'm only now starting to learn the skills and techniques that attracted me to figure modelling in the first place. By the time I'm 100, I should be pretty good!;)

Welcome to the planet Tony. I don't think you'll have to wait till you're a 100. You're good now. Very well done. Hope to see more of your work from "downunder"

Thank you to each of you for your warm welcome to the Planet. I hope to have some more photos for you soon. Its almost 3am now so I'm off to grab a few zzz's and let my paint dry.
Cheers
Tony:)

G'day Leigh, or is it Cootie?
Good to see another Aussie on this planet.
I'm working on the Fusilliers 75mm Lighthorseman figure at the moment (along with about seven other WIP's). Are you into ANZAC figures?
Tony

Morning the Dawe,...
hows the family, good to see you've been pushing paint, good stuff, painting for 20yrs. thats got to make you near 50,?...he! he!...

Phil....

Cootie it is among other things. Yes, I do have a special interest for ANZAC figures having served some time.
Look forward to some more of your work.
Leigh

G'day Tony

G'day mate, nice job on the RAR Digger. Looks like Alan Mac might have a bit of competition with the Naked Army fig's. I look forward to seeing more of your work. BTW, what Lighthorse figure are you working on? The Mounted one or the Charge???

Cheers Jason

G'Day Tony
Very nice painting on both pieces, nice to see you getting stuck into Naked Army figs as well . Look forward to seeing more posting from you
Cheers
Alan

Greetings to my old mate and figure modelling mentor Phil Walden, thanks for your comments. As you can see I'm still doing ANZAC figures (when I can get good ones!). Currently I'm working on the Fusiliers 75mm Lighthorseman figure (standing not charging), Andrea's 90mm French Imperial Grenadier, Miniart's 120mm Spartan Hoplite and the Naked Army 310mm 2nd AIF Corporal, Libya 1941 figure.
I've been truely inspired by the quality of the artistry I've seen by other members of planet Figure. They are amazing. No one who loves figure modelling could fail to be impressed by the technical precision and the artistic talent that goes into the masterpieces.
I'm now working mostly in acrylics. It's taken me the best part of 2 years to learn how to use them properly, but I'm now starting to get the hang of it. I've now gone full circle; from Humbrol enamels, to Windsor & Newton oils to Vallejo acrylics.
Phil, its a pity we wont see you in Perth next weekend for the Westen Australian Scale Model Expo (WASMEx) but I'm sure your boy Chris will keep the Walden family flag flying high! He's developed into a very talented sculptor and painter in his own right and I'm glad he's over here with me so I can keep an eye on him.
Stay in touch you old bugger, and how about showing me a few pics of your latest work?

Jason
It's the standing Lighthorseman from Fusiliers. I could never get my hands on the charging Lighthorseman figure with bayonet in hand, (based on the character of Scotty from the movie The Lighthorseman), featured at the famous charge at Beersheba.
No disrespect to the Fusiliers kit, but the charging Lighthorseman is by far the better of the two kits and the "definitive" version of The Australian Lighthorse, IMO.
You don't know where I could get my hands on one do you????
Tony

G'day Alan
Painting these Naked Army figures is a huge challenge. At 310mm they're almost too big. The RAR Digger took the best part of 6 months solid painting, during which time I could have made several 54mm figures! I started work on my next naked Army figure (Cpl. 2nd AIF Libya 1940), wearing the leather kerkin and greatcoat about 2 months ago, but I've become bored with it.
I'd like to see a few examples of your Naked Army figures. Can you post a few pics for me please?
Cheers
Tony
