It was great to see all of the enties in the competition at the show. I was, however, put off by a few things. There didn't seem to be the same number of vendors providing supplies and there seemed to be a large number of toy soldier-type vendors versus military miniatures.
Also, did anyone else think the lighting in the exhibit section was too low? I had a hard time seeing some of the exhibits.
Also, the exhibit hall seemed smaller than in PA. in that it was very cramped. Appriciate any further comments. Thanks.
Military Miniatures Warehouse had a scheduling conflilct (a vacation, from what he told a friend of mine). Michael Roberts is on assignment and is closed through June. Missing was Time Machine. This was my third year and, yes, toy soldier dealers have made up the bulk of the vendor room.
MFCA spokes people have addressed the issue of the room size and lighting in other threads, either on PF or Time Lines. And yes, a flashlight helped pick out a l;ot of details (good and bad) that was missed in the ambient lighting.
Hi Al,
Thanks for getting for pics up so fast.
Yours seem to have turned out a lot better than mine did. I got more than the usual amount of blurry, out-of-focus shots than usual.
Too much caffine maybe
With yours up, I'm not gonna bother posting mine. I know that I saw a couple there that I must have missed anyway
Craig
Thanks for the Pics Al, it was just like being there... Minus the crowds, the long travel, the ability to be face to face with the people that you miss, the closer views, the smell of alcohol the next morning, well, you get the idea.
I especially like the US soldier (khaki trousers, dark blue shirt, in Cuba ?) standing with his back to a wall section, wiping his sweat with a bandana and with a waterbottle in his other hand. Great sculpt, great painting, perfect. Who did this one ?
Also, I noticed somebody sculpted and painted a bust of Gus, one of the Lonesome Dove characters
(I have just discovered the book and the mini series (brilliant, thanks Quang ).
... Well, yes, now that you mention - when you look at the folds and creases in the clothing in some places, it's exactly like the Michael Roberts figure; you can also see that the left shoulder is that of the MR figure (he should have raised it a bit to accomodate for the arm movement)...
Nevertheless, well done and well painted.
