Finally got this young miniatures MG42 machine gunner finished last night. My aim was to have it completed before 2011 was out and I did so with only three hours to go.

Fairly happy with the end result, this is my first WWII piece in a very long time. The kit was a pleasure to paint and assemble although the matching up of the machine gun, gun strap, left arm, tripod and left hand was problematic and was a bit of a pig to get right but managed to sort it in the end.

All painted in acrylics and Alclad metal paints with oil washes.
All that is needed now is the name plate and packed off to go to its new home in Germany.

Two more pieces near completion and will be posted up soon.

Cheers
Tommi

Lovely job Tommi, the leather work looks excellent.
Which Alclad did you use?
Carl.(y)

Many thanks guys for all you kind words.

Carl, I used Alclad light steel for the main coverage and shaded with dark steel then small pin washes with lamp black oil

Very nice Tommi, are you becoming an acrylic convert now?

I dont think so Andrew, I still like my oils but am now finding different media more useful for certain aspects of painting, the acrylics were a bit experimental and another learning curve, also got a chance to use the airbrush.

Sorry for this off-topic post, but Tommy.......

You look like Fish.(y)

Like your paintwork. How did you achieve the Furry-look?

:ROFLMAO: well if you mean Fish from Marillion he is now bald :p

The fur was painted off white from the white Andrea paint set then washes of different shades of brown and highlighted again in the base colour in the highest and lightes places.

Cheers

And aint it the greatest band ever? That is, with Fish still in it?

Okay, so you've been blending acryllic's? Or did you leave time in between to dry?
