Nice work Mike and John, I like both versions as you have two different styles and bring out some nice detail. Your first pic Mike looks like a contemporary oil painting. Well done guys.

Hey good to hear from you Les & txt!
Yep "oil painting" like mucking around to get different look with each new figure.
This one was super fun.

Great figure, always a pleasure to see a French soldier in figure (except 1st Empire, there's not a lot, especially for WWI & II)
However, I'm a bit skeptical regarding medals, logic would dictate that the pilot also carries the Croix de Guerre (with palms or star), it would make more sense, except for one Airman beginning of the war.

If you need doc about French airmen uniforms of WWI you must have a look at (sorry it's in French- but it's the best website for that) :

Thanks Zastrow (?) mate.
Excellent ref & will defer to your expertise on this one.

Hi Mike & John,
A lovely collaboration and two very distinctly different pieces of work. Both are equally brilliant and carry your trademark attention to detail and subtle effects.
Just love the way you painted those leather coats (y)! Joe

Good on ya Tony & Joe!

I know this feedback will cheer John as it does me.
Whole point of sharing here is to share the enjoyment we get from the hobby - you guys always come through on this :)

Mike both ar fantastic - yes I always love the uniforms of the french - may need to dabble in oils again

Hey Ta! Ian :)

Not sure on oils reference mate?
Both of us used acrylics for almost all of these little guys.
I used a little oil Sepia to emphasis fur collar effect.
