NZ Rifle Brigade uniform was differentiated from other regiments with blackened brass badges & buttons.

I've tried to represent this with 4 different types of acrylics layered over each other to show weathered & chipped effect.

Next step onto webbing.

Taking shape nicely Mike , love your work mate , how'd you get the shoulder flashes done ? Cheers
Al

Thanks Al it's turned it to quite a bit of work, but still enjoying doing him.

Shoulder titles are Scale Link brass letter set.
Slightly larger than I would have liked but do the job.

Would you like some of these?
got way too many in fret I bought & lots left over, except Z's :)

Another "no frills" photo as webbing starts to evolve.
Using ~9 different flat & pointed brushes to develop a texture on this.

iPhone photo is a little unforgiving for some areas but also allows me to get a feel for how this looks albeit in slightly overexposed state.
Chosen a large scale photo to again get feel for detailing.

Trust this is of interest, questions welcome.

:wideyed: I'll be damned if it doesn't look like you've got some uniform cloth stitched on there o_O!
Joe

Still here Mike,...a nice break might have been the best thing you could have done.Keep that bugger goin......Wayne
That really looks like wool Mike. The stitching is very convincing as well.
Cheers Adrian
OMG you've painted each stitch separately. That is above and beyond Mike. The stippling technique is really producing beautiful results mate.
Superb painting Mike.
Those textiles are in a class of their own.
Great work. Keith

Goodness guys, didn't expect that reaction for this quick photo. Thanks heaps to each of you!
Reassuring to hear time & effort going into detail here looks OK .

Stitching pretty straight forward & based on good photos I've got of real uniform built up by Kiwi author Malcolm Thomas.

Webbing takes a lot of work trying to simulate the weave.
Back to the paints & flat brush stippling :)
