Hello Robert,

that looks pretty interesting. This figure is a really beauty and I´m looking forward how you will awake it to life.

Cheers,
Markus

Hi Robert

This is a nice piece, which I have also got in my grey army. I think the change from a Martini to an ikwa is a good choice.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the kit pose, especially the right leg, but that said, it's still an impressive figure. I'll be interested to see your approach to the skin tones. Will you be using oils or acrylics?

Regards

Phil

Robert, nice looking conversion you have there. I'm not sure if it's the right leg or the left. regardless, it's an impressive piece and one that's just aching to be painted. I'm sure you'll have a blast with this one. Intrestingly, I saw your posting and went looking for your previous posts, but they have all been removed. Just wondering what happened?

Hi Robert...

Glad to see you progressing on the Impi.
I agree with your comments regarding the muscular composition of the figures legs. Remember that one of the greatest strengths of the Zulu Impi was to mobilize and deploy very quickly - all by foot. Even if he were a young inexperienced warrior (which he is not given the garb) he would have legs that could start a Boeing

Regarding your Iklwa, IMHO the shaft is too long and it needs to be tapered. I can't really see the blade properly, but I think you also need to lengthen the shank a bit (also remember that the blade measured up to 22 inches). Have a look at these:

BTW... you know why this assegaai is called an "Iklwa"? It's the sucking noise it makes when being twisted and pulled for release... Barbaric I know, but highly effective against the other tribes that were merely content to toss their assegaai at each other in the hopes of hitting something...

Will you be adding a Umkhonto throwing spear and Iwisa to his weapon grouping and shield?

Looking really good buddy!!!!

Hi Robert,

Congrats on the sale. I look forward to seeing the next one! :)

No, those aren't mine. They're from an online trader... the first pair sold for about $380 each... the iklwa in the second picture sold for $700! Incredible ripoff really, as you can generally pick these up in Zululand for a fraction of the price...

Rudi :)

Rob, good luck with the figure. I hear it's a dog to assemble, but it looks good in the photos. I think it's one of the most dynamic figures on the market...and I've always like Zulus. If only it were in 54m....
