The MMSI meets this Friday, Oct. 5, at the usual time and place: 7:30 p.m., Oakton Community College, Des Plaines. Columbia College Chicago Professor Doug Reichert Powelll will tell the story of Maj. Jedidiah Hotchkiss, "Stonewall’s Mapmaker," whose cartographic work (preserved in the Geography and Map collection of the Library of Congress) is credited as a significant factor in Stonewall Jackson’s string of military victories in 1862. Bring any military maps in your collection for display!
