I joined in as well and last week Kevin sent me a H&V bust in 1/12 scale to paint up. Its an excellent bust with impressive detail. The box its labeled as 137e Regiment d'Infanterie, Verdun, 1916.
I did some minor clean up with some files and an x-acto knife. The brim of the Adrian helmet had an upward curve that was corrected by dipping in very hot water and reshaping with my fingers. Finally a coat of my favorite el cheapo black primer that I get at the auto parts store nearby.
"I am very tempted to get that one with the child but Kens got so much good stuff WW1 .

As for me , been bit busy with life but I have painted the eyes on both of men ..weathers been nice so the sun bed and thong came out...
I also have the same bust that Joe is doing but added sash and a shoulder aiguillette ....FFL ......will see how I get on but here are a few iffy snaps and the reference ...make a change from horizon blue !
I will put up a list today of whats currently available.
I will be doing the bust of the Bavarian Home Guard in Winter Dress...and all the ones that are not done by other painters.

I lessened the contrast on the skin tones just a bit. I think I'm done with the face now. Will work on the horizon blue uniform next so now just looking at a lot of pics for reference.
As for proportions, well I don't know. I always just wing it! For sure mostly Skin Tone Base with lesser amounts of the other colors as you go down the list. To tone down the contrast a bit from the previous pic, I added some 2nd Base and 2nd Light from the Andrea Flesh Paint Set in several glazes.
