Joe: Thanks for the pics,mate.Stunning paintjob!.I'll paint the reverse pattern,greens on jacket and reds on the belted plaid.

Jason: Yes,I've moved to the Brown sand to achieve a more neutral colour.The red Leather was too much on the orange side.

is a mail order company but they have free catalogs that have all the different tartans. I have about 5 big books on tartans but have used the catalog as ref. the most.

I very much like the character you have given to the figure, with paint alone. To me, he looks like a tired person ... or keeping with your baroque image, maybe just dreamy?
