For a first attempt that's pretty darn good!
Little thin width wise, but other than that excellent...

I think the pose is excellent. I really do know anything about equine anatomy, so I'm not sure of it's size or weight, but it looks like a young horse to me.

Besides the exposed armature and lack of surface texture, I think you really have a good piece in the works.

Great appearance for the Russian front ! Hard worked, hungry horse is what I'm seeing .... Again another area that needed addressing and some thing that will get me painting horses for the First time !

Well all of your work is great. I too have noticed the eastern front theme so that explains the scrawny nature of the horse. As you asked for a savaging i looked for stuff to criticise. My eye was attracted to the rear right haunch and i queried the anatomy there, but i have not done a horse and again its part of the slightly skeletal nature so heavily qualified criticism. More importantly everyone above notes the context in which your sculpture takes place. The horse looks exhausted and depressed. It has 'soul' and expresses the weary fatalism of the russian spirit( like the russian soldier lying down in the snow to die- forgive me to much tolstoy, dostoyevskey etc! )
