Hello Planeteers,
i want to show my last two figures and also hope to get some critics to improve my painting.

The first one is my first fantasy figure, "Zwëothel, Queen of Darkness" from AndreaMiniatures, 54mm. Every criticism is more than welcome. Let me know what you think about.

The second one ist the "Officier D'Artillerie a Cheval de la Garde", Medal-Models 54mm. I think i have to increase the difference between light and shadows. What are your tips?

Lovely work - I agree with Marc.

It's difficult to draw the line between exaggerating the colours or muting them for photos - I do what I feel is right. Aradia miniatures produce a set called "Sina and the nightmare" and the pumpkin seems very orange in the pictures - in real life it looks like very faded lemon skin!

One thing - you missed painting the cockade on the colback (under the plume).

Cheers

I'm not into fantasy but the artillery officer is very well painted and i would be very pleased if i could achieve the same result. The matter of lights and shadows is very personal. So much of what we are seeing is more to do with artistic effect than realism. It's down to what you want to see in your cabinet or in competition. Compare the perceived simplicity of say Mike Blank with some of the exaggerated stuff... Choice. Is yours but what you are doing is to a good standard.

Hi Huw,
Thanks for your note!
You have good eyes! The missed painting of the cockade was immediately done when i also saw it black on the photos.

From Fantasy to Napoleonic ...a wide area of artistry indeed ..both great looking , agree about the Napoleonic nice job on the medal ...glad you sorted cockade out ...nothing gets missed by tge sharp eyes of PF members ..lol

Don't forge,t to enter FOTM !

Well done Christian! I think both are great, and it's nice to see and paint a wide variety of figures! (As somebody who also paints a little of everything)

Regards,
Phil

Both are very well painted. Two different genres and it seems a different painting style on each. Very versatile. Everything I paint looks the same. I also especially like the presentation on the fantasy figure. Are those roots?

Hi Phil,
I like to mix the genre and type (full or bust) of the figures (napoleonics are still my favorites:)) to have different tasks and also there is always more than one figure on the bench....;)

Just spotted. My first post should should read Aradia miniatures and I'd hate to offend this great young company.

Hi Huw,
thanks for correcting that. On my research yesterday i found the set "Sina an the KNIGHTmare" from Aradia, painted by Massimiliano Richiero. He has a very unique style of painting. I like it. And I think I understand now what you said about the pumpkin. Every picture is a special view of a figure, one has to see it in nature to judge it fair. I had the same experience with the Murat-Bust from Pegaso, painted by Danilo Cartacci. I don't like it on the pictures but when i saw the real thing in Ingolstadt it was great painting.
