Hey all,
Just finished up this one. The base figure is the Alpine 1/35 British 8th Army tanker. I added an Ultracast head, added RCAF breast wings and re-badged the shoulder insignia. Painted in the usual oils over acrylics - please forgive the wretched quality of the photos:

As always, comments and advice appreciated.
Thanks for looking,
Brian

Lovely
Wish I could've seen this in the flesh yesterday... or did I somehow miss it?
Highs and shades are very subtle yet effective, the red neckerchief is a nice touch of colour and gives a hint of the swagger of the RCAF pilots.

Well Done

Colin

PS- Again, great show yesterday, I had a ball

Brian! You've got it mate! That looks great, not to mention it's not a conversion that would of even crossed my mind! Sorry I missed the show yesterday, The Boss was calling ;)

Keep it up!

The Boss? Really? I'm seriously questioning your priorities dude!:) He better have been worth it!

Looks great!

Thanks Taesung - always feel a little sacriligeous (sp?) whenever I convert one of your figures, but I'm glad you like it. Just to make myself feel better, I bought another one this weekend at the Guelph show to paint up stock!:)

Cheers, all and thanks again,

Brian

Looks great but to Colin S's point, it does look quite a lot different in pictures than in the flesh due to "wretched" photographs....which are not wretched at all by the way. Just more contrasty than real life.

I thought you painted in acrylics. Your oils must be very sparingly applied given what I saw on the table Saturday. My oils get slapped on thick and shaded wet-on-wet on the figure while yours are very delicate. Something for me to try to achieve.

Thanks

Colin

I missed it completelyo_O I think I was in sensory overload... I couldn't give a reliable witness statement, even under the light. They say the less you remember, the more fun you must have had

Thanks again all for the kind comments. Thanks Colin (BOTH Colin F and Colin S) for coming to the show and bringing your work - it made the judging that much more challenging this year.

I do apply very thin layers of oils over the acrylic base coats - I'm always striving to spread them as thinly as possible - it does make the blending tougher sometimes but it also cuts down on brush marks. I also give the finished figure a good couple shots of Dullcote as well - it does give the oils more of an acrylic look/finish. Then again, your technique produces stunning results as well! And you were already at a high level way back when I was just starting out!

Thanks again all,

Brian
