Hi all

I'm still quite new here so I may be posting this in the wrong forum, pardon me if this is the case. I visited the Glasgow Model Fest last weekend and, though I only had an hour or so there (much to my wallets relief :) ) I did have a good time and managed to get the following lucky finds

I remember seeing these kits reviewed in Military Modelling Magazine years ago (more that I care to count and don't I regret giving them away :( ) anyway, I got these two and this kit

My interest in the Anglo Scottish Border Wars was born when I read George McDonald Fraser's Steel Bonnets a couple of years back. Models for this period seem to be few and far between and generally fairly expensive so I grabbed this with two greedy, grubby hands when I saw it on sale. I'll be building it in the New Year.
I also picked up this fellow

I was disappointed that he didn't match the picture that accompanied the package which depicted a
ECW type cavalier but no complaints as he's a Benassi sculpt. I#d be interested in getting some info on which era he does represent and also which country he may be from; anyone know?

Lastly, I had intended to be more productive, figure painting-wise, when I joined this forum but the pressure of a fiorthcoming wargaming weekend has meant that most of my efforst have been put into painting sci fi miniatures but, as a treat to myself I bought built and painted this chap

Really enjoyed building and painting him. I do think his head is a little too large but otherwise the figure is great. I may do another but with a few conversions.

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,
You will love those, I painted both the Elite figures and they are an absolute joy, 2 of the most enjoyable I have painted
A great find, I have a spare knight in my stash for a rainy day ;-)
Here a are a couple of shots of mine
All the best

Cheers chaps. I'm really looking forward to building and painting the Reiver, he's really well sculpted, I think, and the challenge with him for me will be the crows on the gallows and the booty across his horse's back. I think that's one I'll be blogging on the site so that I can make the most of you good people's experience and advice.
You've certainly done those figures justice, Gra30. They look every bit as good as the boxtop photos. Did you use oils, acrylics or enamels?
By a slice of great good fortune I was able to pick up two more Elite Miniatures figures today, namely the Mongolian Warrior, 1380 and a Private of the Black Watch Crimea 1854
