I finally finished my first historical figure; Napoleon in Egypt by Pegaso models. Thanks for the feedback from my WiP.

Hi Ewan

Great to see this finished , a nice result , I do like the work you’ve done on the sash , embroidery is neat and you’ve got a nice uniform blue .

Did you stipple on the highs ...they look good

You should be very pleased with this

Well done on the V bench as well https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/wip-of-first-historical-miniature-c-c-wanted.698485/

Thanks very much 😁
The blue uniform was done by glazing over a zenithal using spray cans; no extra highlights added.
The competitions look fun, I think I will enter.
What level should I go for? I was going to go for intermediate.

Cracking finish Ewan, an iconic figure and pose and an equally great paint job. What colours do you use for the breeches, I really struggle with these lighter colours.

Ta very much. The base was buff from the scale colour artist range. I highlighted by adding ivory and I think I shaded by adding a touch of Payne's grey and maybe a bit of burnt sienna umber again from the scale artist range.

Thanks, I feel.the need for another on line paint purchase, so far Vellajo hasn't impressed. That said I saw today that Element Games are re-doing the P3 paints and their paler colours were never chalky. Going to get to the point where I need another draw in my desk just for paint!

Hi Ewan

Ref the comps , we run 2 each year for 6 months , they will be voted on in the class at the end of each period
You can enter up to 3 in each
As for class choice ..it’s entirely up to you but I agree with what you said

I really like the artist line, they're super matte, have the pigments listed and don't need shaking. I also really like the new AK 3rd gen and monument paints. I've been eyeing the P3 paints too, I just wish they had the old style flip pots (I know you could get them in the Kickstarter). I just love buying paints, especially paint sets, I've bought several of the Kimera signature sets and love them. The way I see it, they take up a lot less room than board games (the other thing I like to buy).

It can easily be a case of far too much choice in paints and not enough room to store them all. I'm getting to the stage where it will have to be one in one out.
