Hi doing a conversion of poste militaire lancer and would like to know how they carried the lance on the march would it be the same as the dragoons musket with straps and boot connected to the saddle,Keith

I hope this might help;

This Pegaso figure shows the lance resting in a small bucket type arrangement attached to the stirrup ( I think there might have been similar attachments on both stirrups, left and right, although that might be my memory playing tricks). The lancer would hold the lance by the grip as in the photo or he would pass his arm through the loop on the strap and the lance would then be slung from his upper arm as in this Metal Modeles figure;

I haven't been able to find anything about how the lance was carried in the field but the following might help:

The fact that the pennant could be covered with a waxed linen case suggests (to me, at least) that the lance was carried by the troopers at all times rather than, say, being transported by regimental wagon. That being so,

I can't think of any way that it could be carried more conveniently than in the way suggested by Geoff above. Above is a depiction of a French Lancer carrying the weapon in the lance holder. I imagine that this was standard practise throughout Lancer regiments.
