neck armour

Hello
I get a figure in 120mm from All in Scale called Oriental Lady of war.
now i get a problem with the neckarmour.
I am not sure is it from metal or other maybe leatherplates.
an please see the picture should I cut the half plates or is it ok.
What do you mean.

It's a fantasy figure, so there's no uniform to get right or wrong. On this piece it could well be either leather or metal.

I would go with leather since there is clearly a seam making the neckline. But, you're the artist, man, so paint it the way you see it! You can't really be wrong whatever you choose.
