To the best of my knowledge no early war 19th Alabama jacket survived and no photos have ever surfaced showing the back. Don Toriani may have some insight but this is my best suggestion. The jackets as seen in the pics are very, very simple and are similar in cut to other militia jackets. No collar decoration, no cuff buttons and no trim detail. Therefore I surmise that the tails must also be very plain. Here's my suggested design:

Style I has two inner panels with the one overlapping the vent opening. Style II is just a simple vented back. Two brass buttons would seem about right for this jacket.

Lacking a surviving example or pic, I believe a Style II is a reasonable assumption

Don told me a few times that he had a file on every unit that he knew of and when ever he came across uniform description from period sources he would put in the appropriate file and when he felt he had enough info on the uniform he could not would paint it

Mine made it across the Channel!

Just got a request from Belgian Customs to add my contribution to our country's dwindling finances. Looking forward to see the figures 'in the flesh'.

Pierre, happy it made it but not happy about customs.we do our best to get around it but it seems customs still want their share. Enjoy the figure I’m sure you will.

Hi Barry so happy you like them the next up will be a 3 figure vignette. That’s for the new year it will be a scene from the battle of Fredericksburg. This time from the union side. It will consist of a Officer, standard bearer and a infantryman. All action poses.

Then we go back to individuals we are looking at the following

Quantrills company

Dallas Light Artillery

Thomasvills Zouaves

Georgia Governors Guard

Charleston Rifleman

This are ones that are being lined up all early war uniforms so keep a look out for them .
