Saw the primed version of this in the latest Athens Show and was anticipating the painted version...already bought mine, beautiful rendered and as always Mr.Cortina delivers top quality painting !

Very nice figure and will buy ,only thing the Non Chakas in the belt are a Japanese or more to the point Okanawan weapon
probably not seen in China at that date much more lightly to have had one of these

Falchion.png But wont stop me from buying it ,I am sure I saw a primed version of this at the Pegaso stand at Euro

Not my cup of tea but very nicely sculpted overall.

I'd agree about the nunchaku, that seems a very odd inclusion, but I would be more concerned about the coolie hat.

Im liking this ! a great subject often neglected .... lets have more of the same please ! (y)

This is a fantasy figure to me. It looks more like a Shaolin monk. The clothing is all wrong. Nunchuk in the belt? The straw hat does not looks like that. The pigtail hair style is wrong and the face looks more caucasian. Please do more research rather than taken from some Kung Fu movies.

Its a superb piece and once again a Chinese topic and significant that way. 'he' should be 和 not 合,but to sone extent that is not a problem because we are not in fact doing Chinese homework here.

It is surely a different figure than we are used to. Dynamic pose too. I think we ought to thank the bosses of Alexandros Models that they want to leave the trodden paths and do not want to go for the easy money. I cannot say anything about it's historical authenticity. In short I like it.

However - and I hope this will not be regarded as a cheap form of critique - but having recently purchased Alexandros Models 75 mm Spartan, I am quite disappointed with the casting quality. Before that I have bought their Blackbeard which was a bad piece of casting too. Both figures will acquire a lot of preparation to make them painting ready and presentable. I think that is such, such a pity. They have splendid ideas, the extremely talented Alexander Cortina as a house painter but the end product is way under the current casting quality we all got accustomed to and offered by other Italian and Spanish manufacturers.

Would I refrain from buying yet another Alexandros Models product? NO! Amongst others I am tempted to buy the gladiator too, but all I wish for is that the Alexandros Models' bosses would pay a little bit more attention to the casting process of their otherwise beautiful figures.

We wished to make a reply regarding the Alexandros Models casting.

We appreciate that there may have been flaws in the castings of the earlier releases from Alexandros and it is for this reason that this past year, they have changed their foundry. Quoting the above that "the end product is way under the current casting quality we all got accustomed to and offered by other Italian and Spanish manufacturers". This sentence is surprising because Alexandros products are cast by the Pegaso team. Lately they have been working together on some joint projects, therefore even using the same sculptor, for example, "Lu Bu" (Pegaso) / "Zhang Fei" (Alexandros) or "Aristide" (Pegaso) / "Pausanias" (Alexandros). So obviously they are ensuring that the standards are the same throughout.

Cheers,

I appreciate that you come to defend Alexandros Models. Like I stated in my original post, I did not want to open a can of worms or give easy unfounded critique. That would be very unfair from my side, and as said also: I like the AM figures as a concept enormously.

Nevertheless, I stand with my observations. I could post some pictures out of the box of the recent production Pausanias figure in my grey army (not anymore from the 'older' Blackbeard figure which I have been cleaning up and repairing already). After seeing the pics, I am sure that you would agree with me that the quality of this figure is rather bad, no matter if its casting originates from the Pegaso atelier.

Again, my words are not intended to bring any damage at all to the reputation of Alexandros Models, but as a customer I believe that I have the right to demand quality at least as good as offered by the other manufacturers with an established reputation. The prices we have to pay nowadays for all these goodies are rather high, so it is in the best intrest of the manufacturers themselves to offer first rate quality. With the economical crisis expanding every day, customers start comparing more than ever and only go for the best article their money can get.

Best regards

The pigtail hair style is wrong...
That's one of the aspects I thought was done well. Am I missing some detail, to me it looks exactly like in some of the photos from the period?

On the other hand, it is being presented as a historical subject so some semblance of historical accuracy (or authenticity if anyone prefers) is appropriate.

Quite right. Bringing to light casting issues is germane if and when they occur; anyone who might be interested in buying needs to know if this is a possible/likely/commonplace from a given manufacturer.

I agree. I don't see anything wrong with that hair style either.

Hi Johan. When writing in reply, we are very cautious in our approach. We never meant to say that you are wrong and yes, occasionally some kits do fail quality control. It is imperative as a customer, however, that when not satisfied with the quality of a particular kit, that person should get in touch as soon as possible with the manufacturer or the trader from where the kit was purchased.

I think the same as celine. If you have a problem with any figure of Alexandros models, get in touch with the manufacturer and will change you the piece without problem.
that then your problem has not solved as it is correct to make his criticism, but not before having exhausted this way. I have all their parts and have had no problem casting or lace on them. Follow my advice and contact with Alexandros before you criticize since it is possible that any figure with a defect has finished brewing, this happens with all brands, when one detects a failure before take criticism towards communicates the brand so that defect is resolved.
A greeting
