From what can I see, most of the "rank badges" have same general shape, as they will be so tiny - no way You could see the difference in say 1/9 bust
So I will be satisfied with only general shape... I can't even read the text on the magnified rank badge, so will simply ignore it...
I am not an expert, but from images (See the Caine's shoulder on big image), this is not the version he wears.
Think that Scotty gave the right answer - at least from what I can see
I think Scotty has it right. Personally, I wasn't aware that some regiments had their own design for the rank pips - so it's always good to learn something new.
Seems they are referred to as Irish Guards regimental pattern based on the Order of St Patrick. Those worn by the actor Caine might be of plastic manufacture, or I have seen some dark ones referred to as bronze? In any event, they do appear to be simplified, and maybe cheaper, or less shiny , intended for wear on battle fatigues. Unfortunately have not found a photo example, but here are some cloth type and a metal pair from WW1:
With this one I want to accomplish two things: first, with more torso and part of the hands visible I want to get some dynamic (torso will not be symmetrical cut of type),
and get some more realistic cloth wrinkles than I did before. So for now I added some general torso and part of the hands...
