The team behind FigureMentors, along with a bunch of talented artists, have been hard at work putting together a new figure magazine focused on historical subjects: The Illustrated Historical Artists. The good news is the first issue is finally ready and the better news is you can get is absolutely FREE! Keep reading below for more information...

We made the decision to offer the first issue for free because we want as many people as possible to be able to see the design, writing, overall quality, and the amount of work that has gone into producing this publication. We aim to keep the price for future issues reasonable, but this way you will beforehand what sort of product you will receive for your money. We intend on producing a new issue every other month.

This first issue has contributions from Marion Ball, Matt Wellhouser, Maria Alberta Iaia, Sergey Popovichenko, myself, Ben Curry, and Paul Homer.

I encourage all of you to check it out and I hope you will come back for future issues. You can download the free first issue here: http://figurementors.com/illustrated-historical-artist

If this were a physical magazine that I could actually hold in my sweaty, eager hands, it would officially be the best thing since sliced bread.

It's still very nice though, even as just an e-mag, and I shall enjoy browsing through it. Thank you for making Issue 1 available free of charge.

Reading down the cover how can any figure painter resist looking inside, Historical figures is my thing but it would be great to see other groups of master figure sculptors/painters produce similar publications for Fantasy, WW1/WW2, modern warfare and other uniformed periods throughout history, they all have different painting techniques and finishes many of which overlap, off to download now and getting the first issue free a cool move.
Well done to all those involved.
