Hello fellow modellers.!! My name is Craig Cary. I am a year old Father of three grown obys that also enjoy modelling..each of us has our own genre of course. I have been building models since I was years old. At one time I started building pieces for museums here in Texas, Though it was an honor to dowork for these museums, the scope of the work required and tight if not impossible deadlines mdae my favorite thing to do in this world feel more like a job. I already own a custom fence/Deck and landscaping company, so one job is enough. I actually walked away from my hobby until 2020, when my youngest son was working on some fantasy figures qand asked me to paint an eye on a Beholder from Nolzurs Marvelous Unpainted Miniatures. When I finished the eye, the boys took a look and were like...paint the rest..pleae. So I did and from that moment I was stuck, but now I immersed myself in the fantasy realm as I could forget all the typical paint schemes requiree from the military side of the hobby and had free range to paint thngs as I pleased. That was kind of difficult for me as I have painted planes, armor and figures my whole lie and they have set painting schemes. I enjoyed this freedom and also learned many new techniques. I had to learn to paint with acrylics as all I ever used before were Testors Enamals. It was quite the change for me, but have adapted, but am still learning all sorts of new techniques for applying acrylics, such as filters and glazes.
I told myself I would never build another military model, then I saw what Jeff Sheiu put out as far as 1/16 scale figures and I was floored. The characters, the poses and the ease of slipping them into a vignette or diorama, which is what I love to do. Since June of this year , I have completed two dioramas with his figures. A world war 1 trech scene and a world war 2 bombed out city block diorama with German Paratroopers have let my model buidlking go off the chain. I am posting pics of both of these dioramas, plus I have 3 more I am feverishly working on.
I am so glad my youngest asked me to paint that Beholders eye. I dont know how I left this hoby for so long, but I sure am glad to be back. Thanks for allowling me to hang with you guys. I look forward to getting to you any fellow modeller. Once again, thanks for having me
