Buying second hand kits from Ebay and then asking to replace missing parts!!

What's wrong with that? As long as it's an original second hand kit and not a recast I can't see the problem in asking the manufacturer for a part.
Last year I purchased two kits from the family of a local fellow modeller who had died.
Each kit had a single key part missing, one was a Soldiers and the other a Poste Militaire.
I emailed the companies who now own the masters and are producing new casts.
Italian company replied immediately and requested my address ............ part arrived 3 days later and they wouldn't take payment for part or postage (y)
Didn't get a reply from UK company ........... guess who!

Ratty,

If the original kit was in tip-top shape! such requests would not be required. However, I assume you are using the same 'Greek Castor', as before.. May I suggest a change? before some irreparable damage is done to your good name. Tis but a concerning thought.:cautious:

Regards,

Mark.

Hi Mark

Thank you for your opinion, but we are more than happy with our caster and have nothing but positive feedback. They also cast for other major companies in the sector. As for the eBay comment, it was intend for people that buy second hand kits on places such as eBay with missing parts and then expect the manufacturer to replace them free of charge, when they sold the original kit many years ago. You would not expect it in other business sectors.

Thanks
Paul

I picked this one up at Bugle call & I must say it is a very nice piece, great sculpting, fitting of parts is very good & the casting is 1st class...I can be a fussy bugger when it comes to buying kits but with this one you can't ask for more!(y)
Cheers
Jim
