Really nice concept. Would have preferred to see the Hussars back a bit more arched, maybe it's the pictures ...... or abs of steel.
Cheers
Derek

Nice idea .... but too big for me.

I think it's Maurice Dupin with his daughter Amandine Lucille (better known as George Sand) in Spain in 1808

I believe its from this drawing, with the following text:
Maurice Dupin at 1808 holding in his arms his daughter Aurore (into the future George Sand)
Stunning work from Alan.
Like his figures very much.

Marc

He is probably not holding her just swinging her up and down I've done that many times myself.

What? Where? How do you know that? You can't even see his horse.
Please tell me this is confusion with terminology and we're not making up imaginary things to criticize. :D
Roger.
sorry I mean 2 dolman, but now seeing the picture sent by our friend from the Netherlands, I understand better, Dupin was indeed a rich Hussar

Alan has always put that, otherwise missing, touch of humanity into his sculpts. This one obviously has that as well, I'm sure it will do well.
Or it could be construed as a 90mm Hussar bullying a 54mm Hussar, just cos it can.

I have nothing but unstinted praise for the way this subject matter has been presented.
This 'diorama' encapsulates every soldiers return throughout history.
WELL DONE.

Is it the photos or are certain proportions way out here? I count around five and a half heads tall - extremely short hussar, the arms look way out of proportion too and there is no accounting in the hussars anatomy for the weight of the child. The sword too looks VERY heavy indeed for a hussar. Look at the Andrea Jula figure of William Tell and look how the weight of the child is reflected in the anatomy. This maybe just poorly angled photography so I'm not nailing my arse to the above yet.

And here, finally, the elephant in the room. It's not just the photos.

Exactly, his arms appear that long he can tie his shoes without bending down.
And the child appears weightless. Maybe they're on the moon?
A shame as the indivdual details look pretty good.

Hi All

Thanks for the comments. Just to answer a few questions, the model is a completely new sculpt the legs/torso are not from another figure. The figure was taken from the picture of Maurice Dupin at 1808 holding in his arms his daughter Aurore. As for the sizes he is more then 6 heads tall if that is how you would like to measure it, his arms if straight would finish about a hand length above his knee. All of these are in proportion with other 90mm figures and of course real life. As for the pose and the lifting of his daughter, I have 2 daughters one 4 and one 6 and I can easily lift them like that, admittedly I could not hold them there for long, but this as all models is capturing a moment in time and he is not holding her there forever!!!

Thanks
Paul
