I reckon this is a brilliant piece of sculpting.
The face and the chain mail are superb. It really is a painters delight.....BUT.....

Please do we need anymore Templars, Hospitallers or Crusaders. I realise it's a piece you've had in mind for some years so you had conceived the idea at a time when not so many Templar pieces were being produced and they were selling well.
But honestly, having only limited sculpting skills myself I find the current plethora of Crusaders frustrating.Surely there are more crusader figures in production than individuals who ever participated in the original crusades.
Whenever I see sculpting at such a superb standard as this I often wonder why the imagination of such artists is so limited to what has gone before and is not more inspired as far as subject matter is concerned.

Having got that of my chest I still believe this to be an excellent piece indeed.

One word: MARKET. If you are in the figure business (especially a new/young one) and you have x amount of money to put on the table, where do you put it? Something untried or something with reasonable amount of certainty on a return? Your personal likes - as well as mine don't count much - only the overall market's does. That's why we have so many German busts versus, say, Navaho or Commanche Indians - or Australian aborigines.

Jus' sayin'

Cheers,

Glen
