Are you talking to me?....as I look over my shoulder;) At the rate I've been going at this last year or so, I'd better get started NOW!

Actually, I spent an hour or so yesterday, cleaning up the parts, pinning and gluing the subassemblies together. Minimal casting lines (and I mean minimal). No pitting anywhere and just a swipe of filler around the arms and bonnet. Only issue was a large air bubble on the hackle. In fact, there was no resin inside the part...one large void. However, this was an easy fix with some Milliput followed by Duro for texturing. Nice touch was the production of the spontoon...brass rod encased in resin. I ran my saw over the length of it a couple of times to give it a wood grain impression. I plan to prime the parts today and at least undercoat the various areas this week. Some planning will definitely be required with the painting process

It's an absolute cracker with a face screaming 'character'. Even Michele gave it a 'Oh, I like that one'....high praise indeed:)

BTW, I was up in Ottawa last week and made a trip to the new(er) Canadian War Museum. They've done a great job on the building and exhibits (First Nations/European contact up to present day peacekeeping and Afghanistan). Outstanding display on the 'War of 1812'....you know the one where we repelled those Yankee aggressors;) The coat (sorry for the size) belonged to General Sir Isaac Brock, Hero of Queenston Heights. You can just see the bullet hole under the edge of the lapel.

Are the Boston Mafia attending MMSI this year?

Cheers

Paul

The Hawaiian Shirt Mafia (out here on the frontier, we disavow most association with Baastin, unless it is in our best interest to do so) will not be making a group appearance at Chicago this year, sad to say. Mark this up to "life intervenes". Our next official gathering is in November, when we descend upon our friends from Long Island for a day and night of figure fun and frivolity. I'm not sure if Walt and Pat may be trying to go to MMSI, or whether they'll hit the toy soldier show earlier in the month, or just sit home and shine their medals!! ;)
Not to add any pressure, but you need to take and post some pics of your work with this bust. I would love to do this one, but have committed myself to getting the two new Carl Reid 75mm AWI figures - the sitting Lauzun infantryman and the mounted Continental Dragoon - for my MFCA display. Yes, I'm stuck in an AWI rut, but the new figures are just so damn good . . .
Notwithstanding museum lighting and cameras and monitors, that red is a bit "different" than the "conventional" British red. There's a lot more yellow/orange/warm tint in it than I would have supposed. May need to re-think my reds . . .
As to your original query, YES, I'm tawkin' ta yuu. Keep going on this one. It's only half a figure, and no groundwork! A couple weekends, and badda-bing, done. C'mon, Chief!

Don:

Don't trust authenticity of the red as presented here. Remember, your perception is dependent on my crap photography....a basic 'point and shoot' Canon with no flash. No-one said I couldn't use a flash but I rarely use it in museums out of respect/protection of the artifacts.

Yesterday, the day when the sergeant had reached his new quarters.

Ordered from Steve, the service is fantastic!
When unpacking, I was warm inside, this great scuplt Carl drives, one the tears of excitement in his eyes!

Cheers
