Nice work indeed, very Russian school, but I wonder if there really is a market at such prices...??

Maybe after buying your 3rd Ferrari and you're still looking for something the neighbour doesn't have....?

Somebody's having a laugh surely with prices like that.I know what the top painters in our hobby approximately sell their figures for.The only thing that these type of figures have that's different is the exquisite patterns they can paint, but they're definitely not worth the prices they're asking for .Take a zero off and that would be more sensible.

Are painters really charging these prices for mediocre painting? If so I will start selling some of mine. Bound to get a tenner.

Vityaz sell very limited editions usually about 10 (Hence the price) to wealthy collectors-they did a range of 120mm Samurai which were superb and I was looking at one about 4 years ago at around £7K now they are asking £10K. But they seem to sell. Kolobob seems to have a deal with a number of Studios in St Petersburg including Vityaz. They do have some nice 54mm well painted figures at sensible prices very much on a par with what European Painters/Modellers would ask.

Since the Custers Last Stand was done by a friend of mine I would like to offer something in his defense. First as it says the kits alone (75mm) cost him over 700.00. Add the base, nameplate, and labor to paint all the figures and 3 horses,...well....it doesn't exactly work out to the Great Train Robbery.
He is well aware of his limitations in painting. I don't know about Europe but there is a market here for average priced painted figures as people would like something on their shelves to look at but can't afford Show quality prices.

Not disputing the cost of figures etc Bob but a bit naughty to put museum quality and pro painted on it IMO but if he sells it good luck to him
Steve

The artists probably don't see half that money as there is a middle man involved .

But you should see what crap is for sale at Le Invalids in Paris for high sums of cash considering the poor quality

Steve,
You are exactly right , if he sells it, as there are plenty of pics for the buyer to see. Once again, there are different levels of museums also.He has sold to them in the past for their exhibits as some don't have monstrous budgets but would like to put something out for the patrons.
