Well Brian from what I've now heard, another group is looking into the event, it was nice of them to mention it to us who have been trying to do something. this is the problem with silence and no communication. these people have known what some of us have been trying to do and one of them has been contacted by myself ( with no response ) now I find out that they have been putting some thing together.

I wish them luck with it as it's obvious to me that the work we have done so far was not needed so I for one will now take a back seat and wait to see what happens.

Thank you guys for your support in what we were trying to do and I wish the group all the best and hope they can pull it off.

Cheers

Ian

Thanks Mick & Huw, I was pissed when I heard the news, But what can you do but give them support if they need it ( Looks Like they don't) but what ever happens I hope as I said, pull it off and don't follow the same old path and take on board some of the thoughts that have been posted on here and FB.

They have a great chance to make the show something very special with a blank sheet, they might not get it right first time round but will have something to build on.

Cheers

I agree 100% with you Ian. I also wish them well, but it would have been nice if they had dropped you a PM with a heads up even if they asked you to keep it close.

Hi Guys

Probably not reading this right still recovering from Bugle Call!!...lol ....but who are these other guys ?

Ian ..we all as annoyed as you must be ..lack of comms is aweful

Nap

Yeah I know. But what really ticks me off is that Ian and some others have been working away trying to get something off the ground for ALL our benefit and people had been ignoring attempts to engage with them. This being whilst these others appear to have been working up a separate option.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this and whether accusations of elitism and parochialism suface in much the same way as they did around the Basement Boys a few years back......... and look what happened there, they came up with Figureworld a very successful and popular event. I hope whoever is planning this has the sense and courtesy to engage with the organisers of Figureworld.
Just so long as what comes to pass is on the travel network for the whole of the UK and international guests

As you know myself and mainly ian where looking into things. I found out from andy argent that 2 promenant people in thd hobby are looking into redoing euro.

Like andy and now ian i cant tell you who they are. I found out because i basically badgered andy into telling me as like you i thought it pathetic that different parties were trying to do the same thing...just doesnt make sense. It wastes time ..energy and surely it would be better if more were involved.
One thing that has become apparent from this thread is different people want differing things from euro. To expect the trade to put on a great show and nobody comes an buys ewt is not going to happen...a great weekend is wanted by all !!! Euro stopped not just because of the oldies not helping for nothing but because the trade pulled out in serious numbers ...big stands too.
I was told the trade didng offer any incentives to buy no special releases no special offers.
We all worked our tits off to be their and did all they said we didnt...we got naff all thanks.

If euro does come back its gonna have to be different because the trade are not happy and its probably why not too many are on here...they have moved on.

I hope it comes back but its got to be different

Stu

Well said

Like Ian you must be well miffed to say the very least

Whoever these mystery folk are they will really need to wave a magic wand especially if they hope to stay at Folkestone

It's got to be so different than the "dead" Euro ..totally reassessed and repackaged ..

I agree trade have moved on from Euro

Nap

I agree with every word Stu, you summed it up very well indeed. your right Nap it was Dead and as a trader we do try and releases new figures for Euro I know we all did. don't know what more we could do. apart from releasing on the weekend. as to offers I had them on my stand but did not make any difference really.

Helm Figure world is like a meeting place no comp. we do ok trade wise and it's good to see old friends that can get to it. but no comp, no over seas traders could they do more with it maybe but the formula for that event is not trade or comp based it's like a big club meeting if you like but it works very well for what they want from it.

Ian,Stuart. These mysterious people WILL be looking for your support when it comes to you buying trading space at any new show that may come about. Given they have not even had the courtesy to acknowledge your efforts on behalf of the modelling community a bit of me would feel inclined to say stuff em. Childish I know but ehhh.

Me I'm afraid my model show diary is full for next year and I couldn't possibly fit another show in.
Peter.

Hi Ian /Stu & any other trader looking in.

Just a question. about supporting the trade. As a punter I have X amount of £ notes to spend on figures, paints and odds & Sods a year. We dont normally purchase a figure and start it the day it arrives. So my question is

Would you as a trader prefer that I purchase the figure/item on release Or
Waite until I attend a show (say Euro) and do all my purchases there. which helps to off set the cost of the show, but you have to eat the other 51 wks of the year.

The £ can only be spent once.
