Darlington is a very good show Nige which I have attended on three occasions and is attracting people like Bill Horan and the Swede :) it could very well pick up from Euro and once more we may have a Northern Militaire accessible at a reasonable cost to the whole country and the parking is free ; traders can get their vehicles within yards of the front door . Then there is Leeds

3 occasions at S and L.How many time's have you been to Euro Ron?

Maybe it would be worth a contact with the IPMS, to have a Figure hall/section within the SMW Show, as there are now many more figure traders/modellers who attend...?
Just thinking out loud...?(y)

No-one has ever stopped us Steve except for the self perceived barriers between different sectors of our hobby.
I do so enjoy pointing out that I am the only one whi does what the society espouses.....
"International Plastic Model Soldiers".
I know, I know it's the International Plane Making Society
at the moment to most people, but only because we let them.
There's plenty of figures at shows to represent us, but hey, we should remember there's far more planes boats cars tanks etc ever sold than figs...It's us that send out signals of elitism to the kitbashing lads.

I personally would want all Modelling brought together with no barriers, we can all use each others techniques.
I only make and paint figures, but why shouldn't I paint a figure between someone building a dolls house and another soldering together a steam train, we are all miniaturists and I shall be doing that at a two day exhibition of modelmaking in Cheshire in three weeks time.

That used to happen at Northern Militaire in late September and again at the M.E.E. at the Wembly conference centre every January YEARS BEFORE Euromilitaire was ever held.
I cannot tell you how thrilling it was to travel alone aged 13 from Liverpool on an overnight coach to see this with money hoarded from Xmas.

There are many forms of show, yes it's nice to have figures only, but are we really that elitist that we can't learn from others sucess, I hope not.

Good luck to everyone that is trying to keep going with what so many of us love dearly, but I have to say it was meeting and socialisng with you guys that kept me attending, even when some of you didn't go. I still enjoyed this year, It wasn't the sane, but the 'diehards' were the same.
My hotel is still re-booked, I haven't cancelled it ...yet.
I do feel there is however little point in keeping the booking .

Happy modelling.

Paul.

I am no 5.
If you join the kitmaker network which is international, you become a British Bulldog and display your figures alongside mine. Red Tom is another no 6, there's more of us than you think.
Paul.
Grrr woof Paul, we spoke at Telford,No 7
Peter.

Ralph so sorry mate, been offline too long this week.
10-11Dec in Poynton...called 'The model show'
Here's a link, it includes a couple of pics of a large scale Predator of mine and some of my other figure builds.

They had a fair few guys making stuff with seats in front so folks could sit and chat while you work .
model rail, aircraft, armour, figs, cars and commercial vehicle, dolls house building wargames model boats and radio control.
Plus some traders including Peter Bowyer of Man Models.

If you can make it buddy let me know, you are welcome to bring a travel workbox and something to work on and join in.

Paul.

Brighton could be a good location

Easy to get to from Gatwick and Heathrow, not that far from the tunnel, plenty of accommodation and several venues that could host the show

Here's the guys that couldn't come up with £8,500, or even do a proper job of promoting the Euro show.

I think the Owen chappy was the axeman,as it states he has broad experience in restructing.or maybe it should read destructing.
I see Peter farms pedigree sheep.I hope he enjoys his hobby.
A right pair of aerosols!

hi Brian I agree with you no word from any one involved in the show apart from Malc. I messaged Adrian Hopwood well over a week ago and have not had a response as yet. he may have not picked up the message. the only people I've heard from in connection to the show was the leas management.

I have seen very little in the way of communication from the trade other than Stu , Daren, Hugo & Steve Crisp. which I think goes along way to saying that they does not seem to be the will from others to do anything. ok they need dates and venue I understand that but their is a complete lack of where next. all we can do is see.

Cheers

I'd like to hear more from the traders and their opinions of where do we go from here.Surely after 31 years they would have something to say.
I just can't get my head around the lack of trader's comments on the situation, and of course the organisers e.g. Geoff Isley.
The money they've all made in these 31 years and not a peep, other than the ones mentioned.I for one have a long memory, and don't take too kindly to the sound of silence.
