Another excellent offering from Nuts Planet. The blue eyes definately give him a command presence, almost a wolf-like rendering, (a nod to the Romulus/Remus legend?) As for the laurel crown, maybe NMM paints? Hopefully there will be an SBS somewhere for this fantastic piece.

The sculpture is very beautiful BUT he is not Caesar...

The photos that exist, show that all eyes were brown LOL LOL
why not blue eyes ????

Here is a reason why not:
Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus describes Caesar: "Fuisse traditur excelsa statura, colore candido, teretibus membris, ore paulo pleniore, nigris uegetisque oculis, ualitudine prospera..."

Which means "Piercing or keen black eyes" amongst other valuable descriptors.
This is closest contemporary account there is, he also records earliest account of Caesars epileptic seizures.

But otherwise one could paint them albino red or green of course.

It's a beautiful bust which doesn't have to be Caesar.I'm always a bit dubious when people presume a figure or bust doesn't look like the character he's supposed to represent.
I think the only character that didn't care what his appearance looked like, was Oliver Cromwell, "warts and all"
I know i would get a sculpture to enhance my looks for prosperity. No snide remarks please:ROFLMAO:

Who proves to me
the statue in marble is Julio Cesar ?????
This bust is just wonderful !!!

Vitalino

As far as I know there is just one proven portrait of Julius Caesar - on a coin from his time (one year before he was stabbed):
RSC_0022_-_transparent_background.png

If this is a realistic portait of the real person can be subject of another debate. It shows full hair like on the bust of Nuts Planet. There are satirical songs conveyed that mock him for his baldness as a young man...
Nevertheless the image on the coin led to the "identification" of other busts that might show him.
The bust of Nuts Planet is nice but does not match totally with today`s accepted image of Julius Caesar what is still ok for me.
Cheers, Martin

I agree Martin
but we always take into attention, and we know that the information that exist, that the leaders at that time were much embellished and probably were not as statues show us ... but perfectly accept your point of view, of course

who cares, its a great bust to paint, and credit to the sculptor. might have a go myself, although I don't think it will be as good as the one portrayed./badger

I think if it looks good,it is good, and that's good enough./badger -- a lot of good going on there ha ha
