Here's a little surprise, it's not flat! Actually it's not so little.... and very heavy.
Hinchliffe 90mm Officer, 9th Lancers 1820 produced c.1976. The paint is a little shiny but that was my own fault for using the same paints I use on flats and to be perfectly honest I don't mind the satin finish.

Roger I see what you mean about the shine. But for me these old Hinchcliffes are very much of their time and this 'satiny' paint job has that slightly retro feel that I personally think works with these figures in particular. Hope you know what I mean.
Cheers

I can remember my mates at school bought Hinchcliffe figures. Haven't seen any since 1974!!!!!!:p
Thanks for posting

Hi roger

what I see as a plastic figure, painted by you, I fall on the same faith.

I like the slight sheen and good fits to the age of the figure.

Cheers

Howdy Roger,

you inspiered me with this old champ! I took my Gordon of Khartoum by Mike French out of his box. He´s today about 30 years old, too.
Nevertheless, your figure is nice in its shine.

Cheers Thomas

Ah what memories Roger,
I recall my old friend David Grieve sculping for Hinchliffe in the 70's when these figures were state of the art. Their claim to fame was the figure of a French Napolionic Grenadier who's earring was cast with the hole in it........Where did the years go?
Thanks for posting this lovely figure, one day all figures had a sheen.
Keith

Hi Roger,
I like what you have done, it gives the figure that old world tin plate look that captures a different period and fits this particular figure very well.
Now I suppose you'll get the mallet out and bash it flat!:p
cheers
Richie

Keith, that Napoleonic grenadier was sculpted by Ray Lamb. Part of a range of 75mm figures he did for Hinchliffe Models before he started with Poste Militaire. The foot figures have passed through several owners since then & I don't know who has them now. The mounted figures, along with the large scale Samurai, still remain with Skytrex and are out of production. David Grieve sculpted for several companies but not Hinchliffe Models.
There are a number of figures/cannon from the Hinchliffe Models range which would still hold up well if reissued but I understand that Skytrex have no plans to reissue them, pity!

Jeez Roger, you are really going retro here. That over-blown pumpkin head about says it all. I am sure you had fun with this, but looking at that cheesy sculpt, I would have to say that sometimes nostalgia is not all its cracked up to be......

Carry on! :)

Mike
