As a side project I have been painting another Chota Sahib figure. I've differed somewhat from Sids instructions and given him gold trouser stripes which would date him back to he 1880/90's rather than 1900 as Sid suggested. I just think gold stripes look better than red.

I have a small stash of these CS figures and will be doing them as side projects from time to time.

Very nice indeed! I love Chota Sahib figs. Regrettably I only have a few in the grey army. Regards Pete

Some of my favourite figures, I am lucky enough to have been gifted a handful of these beauties very recently. Many thanks for your kind words.

I loved the old Ensign Miniatures and painted a few, sadly all gone now. I might try that BMSS figure but will have to co-opt a member to order it. I also have one of my early creations, oddly enough for a Yorkshire man he is Duke of Lancasters Yeomanry. I'll pop some pictures up later. The Military History Society have a lovely publication covering the mess kits of the Yeomanry Regiments, available from their website.

Thanks for your comments.

Another bloke in mess kit.

This was made a few years ago, hopefully if you look really closely you can see I.maybe have improved a little.

Officer of the Duke of Lancasters Yeomanry, though why I did a regt from the wrong side of the Pennines I really don't know!

This figure is one of the reasons I went back to metallic paint rather than NMM, over time it's lost a lot of contrast and tonal variety, possibly because in the eveni g the sun can shine through the conservatory and into the cabinet. Or maybe because I was never very good at NMM on anything above 28mm!

He is a nice little character, but there is a clear improvement from this one to the latest ones you have done, the hands are much better now as are the braid and piping details.

Cheers Rob, I was quite pleased with him at the time, especially all the buttons and braid on his vest. Every figure is a learning experience, just that I don't always remember the lesson, but I enjoy what I do so cannot complain.

Very nicely done. They bring back good memories.

Glad you approve, the first one I ever painted was the 60th Rifles in America figure and despite having got rid of most things over the years I still have it.
