Hi Kurt

Nice to see a Moz sculpt painted up , he did a good job on this piece

The painting looks good , like the metallics and the green , facing colour works well

Thanks, Nap,

I liked a lot of things about this figure. The uniform design clearly reflects Polish influences, and is distinctly different from traditional designs. To me, it looks more like the later Franco-Prussian War uniforms than Napoleonic.

He looks really good. I very much like the softer, natural style you have to shade and highlighting.

Thanks, Rob,

I appreciate you saying that. I was actually a bit disappointed that the shading didn’t show up very well in these photos. I was contemplating giving them another pass to add a bit more contrast.

Cheers,
Kurt

I really like your painting style.

I believe the campaign-style pants had brass buttons down the legs?

Thank you very much, Rob.

I was all prepared to paint those buttons brass, but my references indicated that they could also be cloth and leather covered. I thought I’d give that different look a try.

Cheers,
Kurt

Unless you are painting to publish (physical or online) don't worry about the photo, go by what he looks like in hand. Being a recent returnee to this hobby I actually don't really like the modern trend for very high contrast styles, while clearly artistic and very eye catching I find it a lot less skilful than a subtle more realistic look. Less is More as they say.

Yes covered buttons as standard on overall pants after 1812, but being an officer he could just as likely afford to have individualised brass ones fitted instead. You would be correct either way.

Interesting. Did not know this. None of the plates I have show the fabric buttons. Appreciate that info.

Again, love your painting style.
