Well you old dog, you have nailed this Chasseur, look's flipin-fan-tastic. I know where to ask for info on Napoleonic figures.
I might just second what Kev has said......Wot no legs and you tried to steer me away form the dark side.
Joking apart, an excellent job with the brushes. (y)

Bestest regards
Bob

Great work on the face Paul. Excellent stuff.

Thanks Jazz appreciate you taking time to look
Paul

You have certainly got this Napoleanic thing naile down. Those type of folds on the upper arm are not my favorites to paint.Bob

Hi Bob you are very kind.
I try to imagine the whole arm as a hexagonal pencil viewed from the wrist end,
leading back and away from me

Each facet or angled side will be progressively darker from the top to the underside..
Also if you tilt that pencil down as well then the light from above alters the shadows.

I do hope that makes some kind of sense.

In this case the whole thing has also been painted so the the light source is slightly high left ,
rather than straight above.

Thanking you Bob.

I appreciate the kindness of your bewhiskered comments
I'm saving the legs for another project !

I'm dumb I know but, I've got so many
standing cavalrymen I've decided to have
a few holding the reins of their neddy's alongside.

So that's the autumn schedule accounted for !

Cheers

Excellent brushwork Paul, the face and the reds are amazing!
Waiting for your next update...
Dimitris.

It's certainly not a daub with big thumbs, that's my painting style .

You are both Very kind...
Probably just me seeing little faults close up, that don't show on camera.......
Yaaaay
Cheers guys
Paul

Beautiful paint work Paul!!! I generally don't like half figures but I gotta say I really dig this piece.
The face is excellent, you've hit the Chasseur green dead square and the braid is looking good so far.

I'm almost tempted to take a run at this figure myself... I'll be following your progress closely

Gracious of you colin, thanks a lot.

The green is vallejo black green 70980 with about 10-15% extra black as a base,
glazed back lighter and lighter, to just the green.

Highlights are a slight touch of iraqui sand added to the base green black, the thinned right down, added sparingly as a thin glaze ad repeated to alow the build up of colour intensity. It's quicker to do than it sounds because of the haier alongside the bench.

Thanx Paul, I like the mix...
We do the base green the same but I like the use of Iraqi Sand for highlights. I usually use Sunny Skin Tone but am never 100% happy with the result... next time I do this shade of green I'll try your mix.

Oh great, if it's any help to you that's terrific, I like using it for highlighting dark bllues too.
Have a great day Colin
