Hi Guys,I have added a Kaitaka cloak to my Maori Warrior. It was suggested by my good friend Phil Walden.I still have to add the ties to the front of the cloak and I do agree it does add too the figure and his( Mana )status .I would be interested in any comments.Kind regards John :)

John, that's a great addition..he already looked a mighty old character...I think the kaitaka only strengthens it further (good ol' Phil) I really can't wait to see him painted...good luck for october mate.

All the best.

Roy.

Hello John,

While I agree that the cloak would add some 'exotic/folkloric' interest to the figure, I think that the stark contrast between the European clothing and the moko on the face in the first version (sans cloak) would make a more subtle and ironically far stronger statement. My humble opinion, of course! ;)

Having said that, the draping and texture of the cloak look very realistic. I like it very much. (y)

Cheers,
Q.

Thats the man brother, now a little paint...no rush,....he,s your signature figure..be very proud of him....

Phil.......

Hi John, love the sculpt. It's good to see someone sculpting the Maori people - something I have never seen before.

May I ask if this is for personal pleasure or a commercial enterprise? Is it possible to buy resin copies?

thanks,
Brad

Hi guys,Thanks for all your comments on the addition of the cloak.I am going to stay with the cloak.I know what you mean Quang about the stark contrast of the European clothing and the (Moko) tattoo. That was my original idea.I think with another Maori figure I have in mind I will use this idea.Brad I have made this figure as a one off original with no commercial enterprise, glad you like him.I will post some pictures of the painting and ground work soon.Kind regards John :)

John, I really can't wait to see you get some paint on this old fella.
And I'm really looking forward to seeing how the tattoo effects his appearance.

All the best mate.

Roy.
